My role at Recruitment Robin:

I am a Legal Services T-level student at NSCG, undertaking my work experience placement at Recruitment Robin. With a keen interest in compliance, I hope to gain a better understanding of HR and Employment Law, and how these work in practice in the workplace.

What I do outside of Recruitment Robin:

When I’m not studying or on my work placement, I work as a part-time Receptionist for a popular local ski centre.  In my free time, I enjoy skiing and have achieved intermediate level in the sport. I’m hoping to book a (probably too expensive!) ski holiday next year too!

What I have learnt so far:

Since starting my placement at Recruitment Robin, I have already learned some very useful life skills which are honing in and developing my softer skills, such as communication. I have also attended a number of employment-related business meetings (such as ACAS) and got to experience first-hand how HR and Employment Law professionals keep up to date with employment law and regulations.

My future career aspirations:

Based on my legal studies at college, I have developed a keen interest in criminal law. Whilst my placement operates in quite a different industry, I’m finding it interesting learning about the legalities surrounding employment law, right to work checks, and how compliance fits into the recruitment and HR process as a whole. I feel this knowledge will hold me in good stead for my future career goals of working in the Police Service.
